Real People, Real Speakers

September 18, 2013

Real people. How many times do we hear that expression among filmmakers either in their documentaries or using non-actors in their short films…

They’re the Holy Grail for documentary filmmakers, because they tell their own story, they (hopefully) are unfazed by the camera and they say what’s in their head without self-editing.

Director Paul Fegan has captured some ‘real people’ in his doc, Pouters, about Glasgow pigeon racers, who practice what’s locally known as doo fleein’.

There’s some awesomely natural sequences in the trailer.

I’ll probably never see the whole film, though. But this I really like.
