Not Your Man’s Jeans

October 28, 2014

“So, when a woman of 50 comes in and buys a pair of Not Your Daughter’s Jeans, then…”

“Hang on, what did you say?”

“Not Your Daughter’s Jeans? You know?”

“No.”

That exchange was between me and two John Lewis staff when I was trying to exchange a pair of 34″ waist Diesel jeans with stretch in them.

They’d become baggy after a day’s wear.

The taller of the two said: “We always tell women to try to squeeze a hand in the pockets. If they can barely do it….then that’s a fit!”

Five minutes later I’m in the changing rooms spraying on a pair with a 32” waist.

I look at my muffin top in the reflection.

Then I make the exchange. I hope these jeans shrink.
